AGA Chairman Skains Comments to World Gas Conference
At the 24th World Gas Conference today, Thomas Skains, AGA chairman, and chairman, president and CEO of Piedmont Natural Gas Company told attendees that the expanded use of abundant U.S. domestic and global natural gas supplies can address many economic recovery, climate change and energy security goals.
The conference, being held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is the global natural gas industry’s leading event.

Today, AGA chairman Thomas Skains spoke to an international audience at the 24th Annual World Gas Conference in the Argentinean capital about the outlook for the U.S. domestic natural gas industry and its role in a global energy economy. Skains, who is chairman, president and CEO of Piedmont Natural Gas in Charlotte, NC, outlined future expectations for liquefied natural gas imports to the United States, explained how alternative energy could be combined with natural gas to meet future energy needs, and illustrated how U.S. natural gas customers have become a model for efficient energy use.

Natural Gas Video Award Voting
Many thanks to those on our volunteer committee that selected the finalists for the Natural Gas Video Award. It was a tough job with many great entries just missing the cut.
The finalists were announced at the communications and marketing committee meeting last week and people have already begun emailing me their favorites.
Winter heating season kickoff
We had our annual winter heating season kickoff at the National Press Club yesterday. It’s always good times to walk into a building like the Press Club and feel the history around you. They have some great pictures there of the numerous celebrities, etc. that have been present. Of course, AGA had its own celebrities in Roger Cooper and Chris McGill. That would probably explain why there was such a good media turn out for us. We’ve gotten a ton of member requests for the video footage so here it is.
