We owe so much to the men and women that have valiantly served our nation in uniform. The American Gas Association is proud to support the Armed Forces Retirement Home as part of “Giving Month” – an effort this December to highlight the giving spirit of natural gas utilities throughout the country and support organizations in our community.
The Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) provides residences and related services for certain retired and former members of the US Armed Forces. The origins of the AFRH go back to the 19th century and thousands of former US military service members have enjoyed a safe and secure retirement there. A premier retirement community for America’s military veterans, AFRH offers modern facilities, dynamic activities, healthy meals, wellness programs, advanced care, and much more at two communities in Gulfport, MS and Washington, DC.

AGA employees also donated more that $600 to help retired and former members of the US Armed Forces.
AGA employees donated clothing, toiletries, baseball caps, sweaters, gloves, hats, holiday decorations, music, videos and more to the residents of the Armed Forces Retirement Home. We are honored and excited to help our veterans celebrate this holiday season.
AGA also participates in an initiative to help connect military veterans with energy jobs. The Utility Industry Workforce Initiative is a partnership between key government agencies and leading energy trade associations. This multi-year effort is dedicated to facilitating the recruitment, training and retention of exiting service members, veterans and their spouses into employment in the utility industry.
In addition, AGA staff will be volunteering time and making donations to So Others Might Eat and the National Center for Children and Families as part of Giving Month. We will also highlight the efforts underway by our members on this blog and on our social media channels using the hashtags #GivingMonth and #FuelingOurCommunities.
