Jake Rubin #GivingMonth: National Center for Children and Families

Earlier this week, AGA staff dropped off toys, dolls, puzzles, games, clothes, scarves, hats, gloves and other items at the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF). NCCF is a private, nonprofit child and family welfare agency with a commitment to serving poor, disadvantaged, abused, neglected and/or abandoned children, youth and their families.

Current NCCF program services include emergency shelters and transitional housing for homeless families, a high-intensity therapeutic group home, therapeutic and traditional foster care and adoption, independent living for youth transitioning to adulthood, teen parent services, and community-based prevention services that promote academic achievement, parental involvement, economic and vocational stability, and healthy families.

This December is the American Gas Association’s Giving Month and we have been highlighting the efforts by our members on this blog and on our social media channels. AGA employees have volunteered during meal service throughout this week at So Others Might Eat (SOME) which serves hot breakfast and lunch to hungry men, women and children every day of the year. We also donated clothing, toiletries, baseball caps, sweaters, gloves, hats, holiday decorations, music, videos and more to the residents of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, a premier retirement community for America’s military veterans offering modern facilities, dynamic activities, healthy meals, wellness programs, advanced care, and much more in Washington, DC.

Natural gas utilities are members of the communities they serve. In addition to delivering natural gas safely and reliably to their neighbors, family and friends, they support their communities by giving their time and resources to organizations that are helping others thrive. Following their example, the American Gas Association is proud to give our time and resources to lift up our community in the Washington, DC area and we are grateful for the participation of these organizations, their staffs and volunteers that helped make Giving Month possible.

We hope you have a warm and happy holiday season.
