Can't do that with coal. The exhaust from coal is HOT going into the atmosphere. A lot of wasted energy! Coal combustion also produces ash. That ash also has to be disposed of. Natural gas because it is a clean fuel allows the heat to be recovered from the exhaust gases. Then coming out of the top of the chimney is COOL exhaust. The residue from this energy efficient fuel is WATER, and this distilled water can also be used for many purposes. There is nothing wasted if natural gas is consumed efficiently! The technology that is used to increase the efficiency of these natural gas appliances is called "condensing flue gas heat recovery". It has been in use here in North America for over 25 years. It's proven technology. If a lot more natural gas could be used efficiently, a lot of greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced. If less natural gas is consumed, the natural gas bill will be smaller, meaning increased profit for the consumer. If this natural gas is being consumed efficiently, also means that the supply of natural gas will last longer. What is our goal? Natural gas can also be consumed to over 90% energy efficiency.
