If you decide to build your own compressed natural gas fueled roadster, you’re probably going to want to download this CNGnow app for your iPhone or Droid. The app is designed to help you find the nearest refueling station.
They started out with data from the Department of Energy and actually contacted stations to confirm the data and add prices. They didn’t stop there though. They’ve built community functionality that lets you rate stations, comment on them, update their prices and add photos. You’ll need to create a CNGnow profile and connect it to your app to send your updates to the community.
Some of the things you can do with the app include:
- Check prices, pressure and ratings before you go
- Map routes and see nearby stations
- Share information and photos with other users
- Get CNG news, blogs and video

There is also a very handy iPhone app for Natural Gas Engineers to use for day to day calculations while working in the field. Gas Flow Calc calculates inlet pressure, outlet pressure, inside diameter, and volumetric flow using IGT, Weymouth, Panhandle A, Panhandle B, and Spitzglass. The application provides all solutions using IGT, Weymouth, Panhandle A, Panhandle B, & Spitzglass HP in a single message box after user presses calculate. It contains several pipe specifications that can be used for the flow calculations. Gas Flow Calc has calculators for gas velocity, %SMYS, UGSE, blowdown time, line pack, load & bill estimators, fuel comparison, and allowable design pressure, and also includes nine different unit converters for flow, pressure, volume, velocity, temperature, energy/work, power, length/distance, and area. There are more updates to come and will only be getting better. You can also try Gas Flow Calc in your internet browser before purchasing by clicking here or going to iTunes and clicking SSCoder Web Site.
