According to Bentek Energy, LLC, net daily storage injections for the country as a whole have been occurring since April 1. In addition, daily demand for natural gas (including exports to Mexico) has fallen from about 72 Bcf in March to 60 Bcf for the first two weeks in April – not unusual for this shoulder period between the winter heating season and increases in gas requirements for summer power generation.
Given the seasonal reduction in natural gas demand and strong domestic production, short-term natural gas acquisition prices at Henry Hub have fallen slightly and now huddle around $4.10 per MMBtu.
