On April 24, 2012, representatives from the United States Congress, U.S. Department of Transportation , Arkansas Public Service Commission and the City of Blytheville, AR came together to praise SourceGas for their program replacing cast iron main with polyethylene plastic main in Arkansas. SourceGas is a natural gas local distribution utility headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado. SourceGas and its affiliates serve nearly 410,000 customers and operate 17,940 miles of distribution, gathering and transmission pipeline, as well as storage facilities, in Arkansas, Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming.
U.S. Congressman Rick Crawford (AR-1) commended SourceGas for its pro-active approach and commitment to providing safe utility service to the citizens of Arkansas.
Arkansas Public Service Commission Chairman Colette Honorable said, “Today we applaud the fine work of those on the front lines at SourceGas on this momentous occasion. We salute your commitment to safety to the people we serve.”
US Department of Transportation Deputy Administrator Timothy Butters reminded those in attendance that United States Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood issued a national pipeline safety ‘Call to Action’ and stated that, “The action by SourceGas to retire all cast iron pipe is a testament to its commitment to safety and is a major step towards addressing one of the most important elements of the Secretary’s Action plan – making sure the pipelines are fit for service.”
SourceGas President and CEO, Bill Cantrell thanked the elected officials and regulators for taking time out of their busy schedule to attend this event.
